Meet Dane Folpp: Our Shop Junior Taking ‘Slopestyle’ by Storm

When he’s not helping customers choose the right bike or dialling in a suspension setup, Dane Folpp is in the air—literally. Dane is a young Australian bike rider specialising in ‘Slopestyle’. Slopestyle is an exciting discipline where freestyle MTB riders showcase and perform technical tricks on a variety of jumps, drops and other features. He is fast becoming one to watch on the national and international scene and is just 18 years old!

 

From Shop Floor to Start Gate

Dane works with us at Northern Rivers Cycles and Bike Hire when he’s not competing, bringing the same calm focus to customer bikes that he brings to his ‘Slopestyle’ runs. He’s thoughtful, hard‑working, and relentlessly dedicated to refining his craft—traits you can feel in every conversation and see in every contest run.

Career Highlights

    • 2022  First Slopestyle competition ever (Highline; Mansfield, Victoria: FMBA Silver) – 8th place
    • 2022  ‘Australian Slopestyle Tour’ (AST) Round 1 (Big Air Bike Park; Sydney NSW: FMBA Bronze) – 4th place
    • 2022  AST Round 2 (Greenvalleys Mountain Bike Park; Tongarra NSW: FMBA Bronze) – 2nd place
    • 2023  First official invitation to an international Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour Association (FMBA) competition (iXS Dirt Masters Festival, Germany)- a prestigious event, underlining his growing international profile which was his first ever Gold competition – 18th
    • 2023  AST QLD State Championship Kooralbyn; QLD FMBA Bronze – 1st place
    • 2024  Queenstown Bike Festival; NZ FMBA Bronze – 1st place
    • 2024  iXS Dirt Masters; Germany – 9th place
    • 2024  Birell Bike Fest; Slovakia FMBA Silver – 5th place
    • 2024  Big White; Canada FMBA Gold – 8th place
    • 2025  Christchurch; NZ FMBA Gold – 8th place
    • 2025  Vittoria; Italy FMBA Silver – 2nd Place

    These results didn’t happen by accident. They’re the product of hours of training, smart progression, and a mindset that values consistency as much as creativity.

    The FMB World Tour is the official international circuit of amateur and professional Freeride Mountain Bike competitors, one of the disciplines being Slopestyle. The FMBA sanctions events, which are part of the FMB World Tour in four different categories: Diamond, Gold, Silver and Bronze. Dane is currently ranked 18th in the world and is well on his way to achieving his dream- he hopes to be a Crankworx Diamond athlete and represent Australia on the world tour.
